Penrhos is the only ringable four bells in Monmouth Diocese/Branch, and because this peal was to be the first ever on these bells, it was rung on an occasion worthy of celebration, namely Easter Sunday in the Golden Jubilee Year of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and it was rung half muffled in memory of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who died yesterday.
First peal on the bells.
First on 4 bells for the Association.
First peal: 1.
First peal inside: 4.
First peal on 4 bells by all.
Most methods: 2.
Before the peal, replacement ropes were fitted, the bearings well oiled, and muffles fitted. The bells went well, but the peal was noteworthy for being very hard work (as would be expected for 4 bells with an 8.5 cwt tenor !), and we noted that, by coincidence, it was rung on the Eve of the Feast of All Fools !
