Rung half-muffled to commemorate the death 100 years ago today of Sgt John William "Charles" Cremer, 4.4.1869-1.11.1914, the first Ryburgh man to die in the First World War. Sgt Cremer joined the Army in 1888; he served in the 44th Brigade, Royal Field Artillerey. He met his death at Polygon Wood near Ypres from enemy shell fire.
