First quarter: 6. Rung in fond memory of John Humphrey, by family and friends. After taking hold of a bellrope at his father's funeral, not having rung for more than 19 years, Andrew decided he'd like to try and ring a quarter peal in John's memory. A crash course in covering on the tenor - just four practice nights at Tendring, Essex - prepared him for the attempt and he rang the well-struck quarter peal most creditably.
