In memory of Derek C Jackson, who had been a member of the Eling band since 1963 and was Tower Captain from 2005 – 17
Among Derek’s many achievements over the years, he founded the Southampton University Guild of Change Ringers in 1954. He was particularly proud of this as the Guild is still thriving.
Derek was the Winchester & Portsmouth Diocesan Guild Secretary in the early 1970’s, where he was instrumental in setting up the Guild Bell Restoration Fund, he was again Guild Secretary in the 1980’s & 90’s.
Derek was a W&P Central Council Representative in the 1980’s & 90’s. He was also Christchurch & Southampton District Ringing Master for several years. and had conducted many peals, including multiple Doubles methods of up to and over 100 methods.
Derek was an inspiration to generations of ringers, including myself!

Also, in memory of Gwen Mackrell, who was a member of the Eling band from 1963 to the early 1980’s when the family moved to Alton.
