St Swithun Wednesday, 3 April 2024 in 15m (12–0–20) 76 Tolling (Tolled open at 12 second intervals) 6 Christopher C P Woodcock The Traditional Death Knell & Nine Tailors were tolled on the tenor bell (three lots of three for the Nine Tailors followed by 76 tolls representing the deceased’s age) as a mark of respect and in memory of Peter Richard Reeve of Leadenham Hall. Tolled as his coffin draped in the family standard was borne by family members from Leadenham Hall to be received into the Church on the eve of his funeral, where he will lie overnight. Peter died on 18th February 2024 aged 76. As one of his Manorial duties he was Patron of the Living of St Swithun’s Church. Leadenham Hall, which stand directly next door to the Church, was built between 1790 & 1796 by William Reeve and has been the seat of the Reeve’s family ever since. ![]() | |
