Rung half muffled to remember the life of Derrick McRobert who died in his sleep on Wednesday 2nd August aged 77. The evening before his death he attended the usual practice at St John's, and socialised afterwards in the Cross Keys.

Derrick had been a ringer at St John's for over 25 years, had rung over 100 QP's on the bells and 1 peal. He was the Tower archivist, very keen on the history of ringing in the town. He was a unique personality and a great raconteur and an absolute mine of information about so many diverse subjects. A man of generosity and a friend to all.

Grandsire Doubles was his favourite method, often calling it from the 3rd.
