BRONLLYS' PEAL OF 102 METHODS
Mr. Colin A. Lewis sends the following correction to the Bronllys peal of 102 Doubles methods
Substitute a Pink's single where Grandsire Extreme is written in three variations: Cwmdu, Cathedine and Tal-y-llan. “ A Grandsire Extreme is merely the back work of New Bob, of which this group is a variant, and therefore cannot be used as a call," explains Mr. Lewis.]
This peal is believed to have been false. Withdrawn as false by the conductor in The Ringing World, issue 2940, page 600: "102 METHOD/VARIATION PEAL
WITHDRAWN. Dear Sir,—I regret having to withdraw the peal of Doubles in 102 methods/variations which was rung at Bronllys for the Hereford Diocesan Guild on July 20th. The fifth extent was false, although Sedgefield has been rung to previous 'peals'. I apologise to the band and to all who keep records of peals for my carelessness in not checking that extent before the peal. I also made a mistake in typing out the calls for Cwmdu, Cathedine and Tal-y-llyn. The call used was, in fact, an Antelope single.— Yours sincerely, COLIN A LEWIS, Glasbury-on-Wye.".
