First peal: 8. Rung with the bells deeply muffled, as a mark of sympathy with the sufferers by and in memory of the 175 victims of the sad explosion at Llanerch colliery (which is in the parish), on the 6th inst., amongst whom was Alfred Thomas, late a member of the local band of ringers, some sixty of whom were buried in Trevethin Churchyard. Thanks are hereby expressed to Mr. Geo. Mason, the local leader, for having the bells in readiness, and to the vicar, the Rev. J. C. Llewellin, for kindly granting the use of the bells.
