Saturday, December 11th, 1847, being the 50th anniversary of the birthday of Mr. John Pettitt, of this parish, a party of friends met to commemorate the same, and rung in this steeple a complete peal of Bob Major, consisting of 6000 changes. It was admirably performed in 3 hours and 53 minutes.
