The traditional ‘Mayor’s Peal’ rung on the bells at the Civic Church.
Today saw the City’s Mayor Making Ceremony taking place, postponed from the traditional date in May due to covid, one of the traditional City Corporation ringing customs as observed since 1728.
Rung to mark the 815th anniversary of Mayoralty of the City of Lincoln (the third oldest mayoral position in the country) and to congratulate Councillor Jackie Kirk on becoming the 814th Right Worshipful Mayor of Lincoln.
This is a very special day for us at the Civic Church as the new Mayor Jackie is Churchwarden here at St Mary-le-Wigford. We send our congratulations and wish her well during her year in office!
1875th peal: 1.
