Lest We Forget.
Rung with the bells half muffled immediately prior to the Civic & City Act of Remembrance, in conjunction with the Royal British Legion, held at the City War Memorial on the High Street, which stands 200 yards from St Mary-le-Wigford.
The Service was attended by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the County of Lincolnshire, the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lincoln, the City Sheriff, members of the Civic Party, the MP for Lincoln and the Freemen of the City, along with various Forces Organisations, Associations, Veterans & Cadets the various Standard Bearers, with music being led by the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Concert Band. Wreaths were laid by the Mayor of Lincoln on behalf of the City and by representatives from the three armed forces - the Royal Navy, the Army & the Royal Air Force.
Rung in memory of all those who have lost their lives fighting for our Country in conflicts past and present, especially during the two World Wars, but especially the 971 Lincoln residents who lost their lives in the Great War and who are all commemorated on the City War Memorial.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will Remember them.
