Change Ringing Extraordinary.—On Saturday last the senior ringers of Oldham rung an excellent peal of bob major, consisting of 12,496 changes, upon eight bells, at Oldham Church, which were brought round in excellent style in eight hours and eleven minutes, conducted by Mr. Joseph Newton, who has been a ringer nearly half a century The ringers were stationed as follows, viz., 1st. Samuel Howard; 2d, Joseph Newton; 3d, John Buckley; 4th, James Dunkerley; 5th, James Gartside; 6th, George Holland; 7th, William Holland; 8th, John Mayall. Weight of the tenor 13 cwt. They had intended to ring 16,032 changes, but owing to the eighth bell-ringer being seized with cramp, they were obliged to stop at upwards of twelve thousand, as above stated.
