Rung after meeting short for a Peal attempt specially arranged in thanksgiving for the life of Matthew Wilkinson, son of Barrow & District Society Deputy Master Paul Wilkinson and his wife Wendy, who died on 8th July 2021 after a brave battle against cancer.

Roger Gair, Secretary of Leeds University writes: Over the fifteen years he worked at the University, Matthew provided outstanding support to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, the Student Education Service and the Schools of Politics and International Studies and Sociology and Social Policy. Staff, student and visitors alike benefitted from his compassionate and caring nature. Always approachable, kind and generous with his time, he was a highly valued and admired colleague and I know that his loss will be felt deeply throughout the Schools, the Faculty and the wider University. I have arranged for the flag on the Parkinson Building to be flown at half-mast on the day of his funeral in his memory.
