Family quarter peal rung to mark the 50th anniversary of tenor ringer’s 1st ringing lesson. This quarter peal is the latest in a series that marked the 10th anniversary at Codsall, the 20th at Abbots Bromley and the 30th at Greenhill, Lichfield. The 40th was not possible due to the date falling in Holy Week. Special thanks must go to the sadly missed Phil Johnson for his brilliant teaching, help and encouragement during those formative years and his constant “work it out yourself” philosophy.
Also, 45th anniversary of the first ringing lesson for 2, taught by 6.
Roughly the 46th anniversary of first ringing lesson for treble, also taught by 6.
The conductor was also taught his initial bell handling by 6, but not much else just in case anyone’s wondering.
Best of all though is the ringer of 3, also taught by 6, and who on completing her first ringing lesson in 2015 when asked if she had any questions said: “Do you know James Ramsbottom?”
A light social followed online for which we were joined by my non-ringer sister Frances and husband David - really pleased they were able to join us.
Here’s to the next quarter in 2031 and hoping we’re back in the towers by then.
This performance was rung using simulated sound. Performed on a virtual ringing platform..
