Celebrating the end of 2020 – a truly dreadful year, but thanking the NHS and all frontline workers, as well as the many essential and key workers who have kept going through out 2020 and also to all the Scientists who have been working on the Vaccines which will hopefully mean 2021 will be a better year for us all!
Rung with the bells open after midnight on the back four bells, to welcome in the New Year - 2021 (let’s hope it is a better year than 2020)!
‘Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow,
The year is going, let him go, Ring out the false, ring in the true.’
Wishing all our local ringers a Happy New Year and we are sorry that you can not be here with us tonight.
The ringing after midnight also included the traditional firing of the bells (three bursts). This was followed by Champagne and Chocolate Cake as usual!
The ringing took place using a combination of family members who live in the same household and social/support bubbles with all the ringers wearing face coverings. This satisfies the guidance for ringing in Tier 4.
