Lest We Forget
11 o’clock tolled on the tenor bell to mark the start of the national 2 minutes silence followed by 10 minutes of tolling.
In memory of all those who have lost their lives fighting for our Country in conflicts past and present, especially during the two World Wars, but especially the 12 men, boys & lady from this village who lost their lives in the Great War and did not return, all of whom are commemorated on the Village War Memorial here in Church.
We especially remember Private KENNETH DYKES, who was killed in action on 31st July 1917 aged 19. Kenneth was a ringer at this Church.
Remembering the five men of this parish who were killed during WWII - Joseph Alfred Topham in 1940, Ernest Wilfred Jackson in 1942, Eric James Pinner in 1943, Bernard Simpson Plumtree in 1944, and Charles Ashton in 1944.
Due to lockdown we rang the traditional half muffled bells on Wednesday (4th November) https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1399996
We Will Remember Them!
Their Name Liveth For Evermore
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.
