Lest We Forget
11 o’clock tolled on the tenor bell to mark the start of the national 2 minutes silence followed by 10 minutes of tolling. This was rung whilst the Act of Remembrance was observed at the Village War Memorial by a small gathering due to space limitations.
On Armistice Day, marking the centenary this day of the unveiling of the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London and the burial of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey - Armistice Day 1920, these both being the national memorials to the fallen.
In memory of all those who have lost their lives fighting for our Country in conflicts past and present, especially during the two World Wars, but especially the 38 men & boys from this village who lost their lives in the Great War and did not return, all of whom are commemorated on the Village War Memorial.
We Will Remember Them!
Their Name Liveth For Evermore
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.
