Lest We Forget
Rung on the back three bells half muffled immediately after the short service and Act of Remembrance held out on the Village Green around the Village War Memorial across the road from the Church – socially distanced of course!
This ringing took place by a single household who live in the village, the ground floor belfry having its own access to outside without going through the Church, with the permission of the Rector & Church Wardens.
In memory of all those who have lost their lives fighting for our Country in conflicts past and present, especially during the two World Wars, but especially the 18 men & boys from this village who lost their lives in the Great War and did not return, all of whom are commemorated on the Village War Memorial.
Remembering Derek Arthur Neill of this parish who was killed during WWII in 1944.
Also marking the centenary of our Village War Memorial being unveiled in 1920 and the centenary of the first Act of Remembrance to be held around it on Armistice Day 1920.
Due to lockdown we rang the traditional half muffled Remembrance Quarter Peal on Wednesday (4th November) https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1399995
