Rung to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, to celebrate and give thanks for the end of the Second World War. Also remembering all those who lost their lives during WWII, the prisoners of war and all those who answered the call to fight for King & Country - bringing us Victory, Peace and Freedom.
Rung by some of the local band on bells 2,4,6 immediately following the national two minutes silence, prior to this the tenor tolled 11 o’clock to mark the start of the silence. Remembering the five men of this parish who were killed during WWII - Joseph Alfred Topham in 1940, Ernest Wilfred Jackson in 1942, Eric James Pinner in 1943, Bernard Simpson Plumtree in 1944, and Charles Ashton in 1944.
The ringing took place with social distancing observed and all the ringers wearing face coverings.
