The tenor ringer has now completed the calendar to peals having rung peals on all 366 days of the year. He started the calendar here by ringing his first peal on these bells and he has now completed the calendar here, taking 6,353 days to achieve.
Rung on the back five (the original five cast in 1819 by Thomas Mears of Whitechapel) to celebrate the 200th anniversary of them being cast. The treble of the five was recast in 1920 at the time of the restoration and augmentation to six. Rung remembering Charles Chaplin MP of neighbouring Blankney Hall who gave the five bells in 1819 and who also restored the Church.
Also marking 300 years since the Chaplin family first arrived in Blankney after they purchased the Blankney Estate in 1719. They remained here for just short of 200 years. The appearance of Blankney Estate and all its buildings is very much down to the Chaplin family, who rebuilt Blankney Hall & restored the Church.
Rung also as a birthday compliment today to Richard Woodcock, the conductor’s father.
