Prior to the peal Alan McFall posted the following notice on the outside door of the detached tower "The ringing today is to commemorate a peal rung on these bells 40 years ago on Saturday 13 Nov 1965. That peal (Rutland) was rung to celebrate the wedding of William H Dowse, a local ringer, and Joan Massey from Macclesfield, who were married here at All Saints, Marple prior to the peal being rung. Four members of that original band together with the groom are ringing today."

Bill and Joan wish to remember their friends Derek Yates, Basil Jones, Peter Whitehead and Brian Woodruffe all of whom took part in the original peal but were unable to ring today.
