Rung to celebrate the installation of the new (and much needed) rope guides and rope chutes (by TLB Services) which have transformed these bells from one of the most awkward and tricky to handle rings of five in the county to a pleasant and easy to handle ring of bells - you would not believe they were the same ring of bells! Why rope guides etc were not installed 20 years ago when the bells were completely rehung is beyond us?
Rung also during St Peter’s-tide to celebrate the forthcoming Patronal Festival, the feast of Saint Peter (29th June). Also to mark the 20th anniversary of the rehanging of the bells back in 1999 ready for the Millennium.
The band wish to associate Sue Frayne, the Tower Captain, with this quarter – Sue sat and listened to the quarter from down in the Church. It is due to Sue that the new rope guides have finally been installed, a very generous gift, and so we were only too pleased to come and ring the bells for her!
