Rung with the bells half muffled immediately prior to the Royal British Legion City of Lincoln Branch’s Act of Remembrance held at the City War Memorial on the High Street to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy Landings to Liberate Europe during World War Two.
The Service was attended by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lincoln, the City Sheriff, members of the Civic Party, along with various Forces Organisations, Associations, Veterans & Cadets.
Rung in memory of all those who took part in the invasion, those in the air, those on the land and those on the sea, from Britain, the Commonwealth and the Allies. Especially remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice and who did not return. We Will Remember Them!
Rung for Freedom, Liberty and Peace!
Following the Act of Remembrance a further 600 changes of Single Court were rung making a total of 1944 changes rung today.
