At 11 o’clock marking the start of the 2 minutes silence at the City War Memorial during the Act of Remembrance for D-Day, ‘Old Kate’ the City’s Curfew Bell cast in 1585 was tolled 6 times, representing the 6th day of the 6th month.

Old Kate hangs in St Benedict’s Church which stands immediately behind the City War Memorial.

This performance is linked to the events: 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy and Ringing for the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings
