Rung in memory of John Condon, who died aged 14 on 24th May 1915, the youngest soldier to die during World War One. On that day, George Ratcliff, father of Denise Hughes was born.
Also in memory of Colour Sergeant William Frederick Howard, killed during the Battle of Jutland on 31st May 1915, and Driver James Mitchell, who died on 7th April 1920 as a result of lung disease sustained from lung poisoning, both great grandfathers of Claire Holbrook.
Fittingly, Henry Smith, the grandfather of the composer, was involved in the fighting around Ypres.

This performance is linked to the event Open University — OPUSCR Visit to Ypres .
