We rang the bells today to remember Company Quartermaster Serjeant William Sheahan who died on May 9th 1919 of illness contracted in France in 1918.
He lived in Camberley and signed up at the time of the general call up in 1914. He was deployed to France in July 1915, and was injured twice in 1915 and 1917. He was diagnosed with TB and declared unfit for service in early 1918 and sent home. His headstone is inscribed "Rest After Long Suffering".
We remembered William today - may he rest in peace.
