The traditional Holy Week silence broken in solidarity of Notre-Dame and the people of Paris following the devastating fire at the Cathedral on Monday evening, but also in thanksgiving for the survival of the Grand Organ and much of the Stained Glass including the fine medieval Rose Windows, all of which Notre-Dame is famed for.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to break down, and a time to build up.” Ecclesiastes 3.
Rung by the local band with the bells fully muffled for Lent on Maundy Thursday as part of the national ringing for Notre-Dame.
856 changes specially chosen to represent the age of Notre Dame, with construction of the Cathedral beginning in 1163 (856 years ago).
