Rung for even song in memory of Heather's Great Uncle, Private Alfred Applin who served in the 3rd Dorsetshire Regiment as a machine gunner.
Discharged from forces on 6.1.1916 suffering from paraplegia as a result of WW1. Spent from 23 June 1916 to his death on 6th May 1920 in the Star and Garter Home, Richmond, Surrey. Whilst in the Star and Garter Home he took up embroidery and some of his work was used as part of the Altar Frontal at St Paul’s Cathedral.
