Rung half muffled to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of the Great War 1914 - 1918 and all those who died in action.
Also dedicated to the memory of Private Arthur Charles Janes, a member of East Brent, Bath and Wells Diocesan Association of Change Ringers, killed in action 13th May 1915. Arthur was a soldier of the 9th Queens Royal Lancers, one of the regiments which later formed the 9th/12th Royal Lancers in which the ringer of the 5th served for 22 years.
Arthur was a reservist, he had been a 9th Queen's Royal Lancer. He was recalled to service mobilised as reservists having a commitment to serve with the ‘colours’. The regiment departed for Flanders in the August of 1914, Arthur was killed in action on 13th May 1915. He is buried at the Divisional Collecting Post Cemetery and Extension, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
He is entitled to the 1914 star – victory and war medal.
