Rung half-muffled to commemorate the life of James Frank Crouch, Gunner 153972. 443rd Siege Battery., Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed 6th November 1918. He is buried in a grave East of the Church (but not commemorated on the Elstow village war memorial).

Also to commemorate the life of Corporal John William Barker, ringer at Bedford, St Paul’, killed in action 6th November 1918, age 37. Tank Corps 1st Gun Carrier Coy. Service No.306600. Commemorated at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France, Grave S III S 22. (Refer to RW 5609, 23/10/18, p1033 for further details)
