Rung in memory of the men of Swanage who made the ultimate sacrifice in WW1. Particularly remembering the 3 Johnson brothers, great uncles of the ringer of the 4th, who came from the town.
John Johnson: born Yeovil, Somerset, served in King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, killed 9th April 1916 aged 19 near Sannaiyat, Mesopotamia (Iraq), commemorated on Basra Memorial, Iraq.
Alec Johnson: born Yeovil, Somerset, served in Hampshire Regiment, killed 3rd September 1916 aged 18 near Beaumont- Hamel, Somme, France, buried in Ancre British cemetery.
Alfred Johnson: born Bishops Candle, Somerset, served in East Kent Regiment ("The Buffs"), killed near St. Souplet, France on 25th October 1918 aged 18, buried in St. Souplet British cemetery.
