Rung on the back six. In memory of Private Harry Pearce, Rishton, Lancashire. Died 25/08/1918 age 31. Somerset Light Infantry 1st Garrison Bn. Service No.39686. Commemorated at Delhi Memorial (India Gate), India, Face 1, but buried at Peshawar (Right) British Cemetery, India, Grave XXV 732. Born 4th quarter 1887 and baptised 16/10/1887 at Swinton, Lancashire. Son of Richard Pearce and Mary Pearce (née Farnworth) of Swinton. At the time of the 1901 census, he was working as an office boy, and by 1911, as a book keeper. His brother, Lance Corporal William Arthur Pearce, Northumberland Fusiliers, not known to be a bellringer, also fell, on 20/10/1918, and is commemorated at Belgrade Cemetery, Namur, France. Born: Swinton, Lancashire. Enlisted: Rishton, Lancashire. Resided (1911 Census): Boarding with John Wolstenholme and Alice Wolstenholme at 48 Commercial Street, Rishton, Lancashire.
