In memory of Lieutenant Robert Bishop Slade, who died in active service on this day in 1918. He served gallantly in the army and RFC, and became one of the very first officers in the newly formed Royal Air Force. He was a Blewbury bell ringer before the war and is remembered on p.621 of The Ringing World. Several of his family members were in attendance during the quarter peal.
