Rung on the back five by the local band prior to the Annual Oddfellows Service. Inside Nocton Church hangs the banner of the ‘Loyal Ripon Lodge’ of the Oddfellows. The Loyal Ripon Lodge was set up for Nocton & Dunston in 1840 and gained its name to the local connection with the Earl of Ripon who lived at Nocton Hall.
Rung also to mark the feast of St Peter (29th June). All the previous Church’s at Nocton were dedicated to St Peter, but when the present Church was rebuilt in 1862 by the Countess of Ripon in memory of her husband, the first Earl of Ripon, the Churches dedication was changed from St Peter’s to All Saints in honour of the Earl of Ripon who was born on 1st November (All Saints Day).
Also marking the anniversary of the death of His Excellency, The Most Honourable, George Frederick Samuel Robinson, first Marquess of Ripon, KG. GCSI. CIE. VD. PC. Viceroy and Governor-General of India, who died on 9th July 1909. The Marquess of Ripon inherited Nocton Hall and the Nocton Estate.
