Rung to commemorate Private Reginald Blackwell, Whittle-le-Woods, Lancashire. Died 30/06/1918 age 19. East Lancashire Regiment 11th Bn. Service No.31562. Commemorated at Aval Wood Military Cemetery, Vieux-Berquin, France, Grave I C 10. Born 2nd quarter 1899. One of five children; four surviving at the 1911 census. Son of James Blackwell and Martha Blackwell (née Mossop) of Preston New Road, Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire. He was at school at the time of the 1911 census. A memorial peal of Kent TB Major was rung at Whittle-le-Woods on 21/04/1923; two of his brothers, Victor Bootham Blackwell (4th) and Arnold Ainsworth Blackwell (Tenor), took part. Born: Clayton-le-Woods, Lancashire. Enlisted: Chorley, Lancashire, initially in the Manchester Regiment, Service No.63042. Resided (1911 Census): Preston Road, Whittle-le-Woods, Lancashire.
