Rung in memory of Private George Snelling, Tibenham, Norwich Diocesan. Died 04/06/1918 age 38. The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) 7th Bn. Service No.9149. Commemorated at Chauny Communal Cemetery British Extension, France, Grave 2 A 14. Born 30/11/1879. One of four children; all surviving at the 1911 census. Son of Amelia Snelling of Swantons, Tibenham, Norfolk, and the late Frederick Snelling (Died 1886, age 34). At the time of the 1911 census, he was working as a farm labourer. He, along with his brother John Snelling, was a prolific peal ringer, ringing his first peal, at Tibenham, on 20/03/1905, and ringing at least 60 more. These included numerous peals of Surprise Minor, up to 14 methods, along with multiple peals of Bristol, Cambridge, London, Norfolk and Superlative Surprise Major at towers in Norfolk and Suffolk.
