One of six children; four surviving at the 1911 census. Son of Sarah and the late Walter Nice of Gestingthorpe. Husband of Edith Nice (née Downs), whom he married on 14/04/1917 at Gestingthorpe. At the time of the 1911 census, he was working as a gas fitter. He rang a number of peals in his local area. He died at Dover Hospital from wounds received in action on 07/04/1918 near Arras, France.
