Rung for St George’s Day and in memory of Private Frederick James Hardy of the Wiltshire Regiment, a ringer at this tower and a member of the College Youths. Pte Hardy was killed in action during World War 1 on 24 March 1918 - casualty number 785273; commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
