First of Treble Bob Royal: 1. Rung in memory of L.Cpl. Walter William Watts 17471, 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, who was killed in action on 28 March 1918. He was born at Woodford, near Berkeley, in 1888. He has no known grave but is remembered with honour on the Arras Memorial and the Berkeley WW1 Memorial. Walter was a ringer at St Mary’s, Berkeley and a member of the Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association.
