Ringing to Remember – We Will Remember You!
LEST WE FORGET – ‘Their Name Liveth For Evermore’
Rung with the bells half muffled to mark the centenary of the death of 2nd Lieutenant EDWARD CHARLES VULLIAMY BATTLE who served in the 3rd Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment, who was killed in action on 21st October 1914 aged 19 at Illies in France. He was the first Potterhanworth resident/native to be killed during the Great War.
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.
Honourable age does not depend on length of days, nor is the number of years a true measure of life.
First blows in the variation for all.
Circled the tower (and as conductor) 22 times to quarter peals, since the bells were rehung and augmented in Sept 2004: 4.
