On January 10th 1918, with the bells half muffled three six scores of Grandsire Doubles were rung in memory of George Kenner Hawkins, by the Crawley Band. This evening, January 10th 2018, the Crawley Sunday Service Band, again, with the bells half muffled, rang three extents of Grandsire Doubles in memory of Corporal Hawkins who died of wounds 100 years ago today. He is buried in Tincourt New British Cemetery, Somme, France.
