King's Shropshire Light Infantry 6th Bn. Service No.26569. Commemorated at Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France, Panel 8 and 9. Born 1893. Son of William Paddock and Margaret Paddock (née Roberts) of Yew Trees, Bagley, Ellesmere, Shropshire. In 1911, he was a dairy farmer’s groom, living at Birch Hall Farm, Ellesmere, Shropshire and later he worked at Clunbury Hall for Mr Morris. He enlisted when war broke out and left for France in 1916, he saw much active service (he was on one occasion buried alive for 48 hours).
