First Grandsire - 2. Rung to commemorate the death of Private Leonard J Franklin 2/6th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment who was Killed in Action 9th November, 1917. Leonard was baptised in this Church on 15th September, 1895. His father was a shepherd and he grew up to be a butcher before joining the army on the outbreak of WW1. He is remembered on the Bisley War Memorial and his parents continued to live in the village after the war ended.
