Rung in memory of Second Lieutenant John William Brown, ringer at this tower. Died 16/10/1917 age 22. Yorkshire Regiment 7th Bn. Commemorated at Tyne Cot Memorial. Son of Lawrence Brown, also a ringer at Northallerton. He is remembered on a plaque on the 4th bell wheel of the new ring at St George’s Memorial Church, Ypres.
