WW1 Centenary Commemoration
SERGEANT JOHN BARRINGTON
John was born in 1896 at Kelston. He served with the 1st/4th Bn. of Gloucestershire Regiment in France and was killed in action on the 9th October, 1917 aged 21 years.
He is 'Remembered with honour' on a panel to the 'Missing', which forms the north eastern boundary of the Tyne Cot Memorial Cemetery, Zonnebeke, West-Viaanderen, Belgium, and also on a 'Brass' in St. Anne Parish Church, Syston.
When a Private he was awarded the Military Medal for Bravery in the Field by His Majesty the King in 1916.
