Remembering Capt A R Milne (Hertfordshire Regiment).

Alexander Milne secured a place at Trinity College, Cambridge in July 1914, but took his commission in October 1914 and died, aged 21, on the first day of the battle of Passchendaele, 31st July 1917, never having taken up his place.

His Major wrote: 'He was always so cheerful and high-spirited ... and it is as a friend that all of us who had the privilege of knowing him will always remember him'.
