Specially arranged and rung half muffled in affectionate memory of Charles Edward (Ted) Woodcock, Uncle of the conductor & brother-in-law to the second, who unexpectedly passed away on 1st April 2017 and whose funeral took place earlier this week on Thursday 4th May. Ted lived all his life in Branston and was married in this Church. Our thoughts are with his Daughter Lynn & Brother Richard at this difficult time.
Ted was a Vice President of Blankney Golf Club as well as being the longest serving General Club Secretary 1970 – 1988, a Past Club Captain 1968 and a former County President of the Lincolnshire Golf Union 1995-1996 the highest honour, something he was immensely proud of. Ted was also the first Club Champion at Blankney in 1974, and also won the Lincolnshire Senior Championships in succession from 1989 to 1993 at 5 different courses, and won a sixth in 2000 at yet another course, a feat not matched. Ted joined Blankney Golf Club in 1962 being a member for 55 years. Blankney was Ted’s second home, he loved the course and club and had many happy memories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A fine gentleman who stood by his principles and was not scared to speak his mind!
