Rung in memory of Private Frederick Lawrence, 2nd Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), killed in action on 19th June 1917 near Ypres and buried at Perth Cemetery (China Wall), Belgium. He was a ringer at St James, Leith. Their name liveth for evermore.
Although the tower bells were removed in 1978 when the building was deconsecrated, this handbell peal was rung in the adjacent building where St James continues to worship.
