Rung half-muffled on the 200th anniversary of a muffled peal rung in this tower in memory of William Chapman, one of the founder members of the Society of Bromley Youths, member for 43 years, leader and conductor for most of that time, who rang upwards of 60 peals in his lifetime (including some long lengths). This peal was notable as it was claimed to be "The First Dumb Peal of this Kind ever Rung in this Kingdom."
