Rung with the bells half muffled to mark the centenary of the deaths of
2nd Lieut James Henry Rowland Hanning, aged 18,
Lance Corporal John Kitchen, aged 23,
Private Joseph Redford,
Private Richard Clarke Redford,
who were all killed on 26th September 1915. They were the fourth, fifth, sixth & seventh Branston resident to be killed during the Great War.
This was the greatest single loss of Branston residents on a single day during the Great War.
When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.
Honourable age does not depend on length of days, nor is the number of years a true measure of life.
We did intend to ring a full peal however one of the band members was not well. Thanks to Yvonne for standing in at the very last minute. The peal will be reorganised later in the year.
(Rung also for the Lincoln Diocesan Guild)
